Call for Artists

Are you a ceramic artist looking for a platform to display and sell your work? 

 

We are seeking artists to participate in our upcoming exhibition. This event is intended to showcase a diverse group of local potters, and to ultimately connect this underserved art-form to the greater art community of Miami & South Florida.

From Earth Through Fire is a functionally focused pottery exhibit presented by Roots Miami, and independent ceramics studio, in partnership with collaboARTive, and artist forward nonprofit in Miami. The event will take place the April 18th & 19th at Arthood56.

 

The application process will conclude Feb 18th, 2026 and will be promplty followed by the selection process in the following days. You will find the artist criteria below.

Artist Criteria 

Eligability
  • Open to ceramic artists based in Miami and South Florida
     

  • Open to artists at all stages of practice, including:
     

    • Emerging artists
       

    • Mid-career artists
       

    • Serious hobbyists
       

    • Established career ceramicists

Medium &
Work Focus
  • Primary focus: Functional ceramics
    (tableware, vessels, domestic objects)
     

  • Secondary consideration: Sculptural or abstract work
    evaluated based on quality, cohesion, and spatial balance
     

  • All work must be handmade by the applicant

Exhibition Standards

This exhibition prioritizes a thoughtful balance between presentation and volume, ensuring that each artist’s work is given space to be viewed, experienced, and appreciated.

  • Artists are encouraged to present:

    • Approximately 10–20 pieces at any given time
       

  • Final display quantities may be adjusted based on:
     

    • Type of work
       

    • Scale and format
       

    • Overall exhibition composition
       

To maintain a refined gallery environment:

​

  • Work should be professionally finished and exhibition-ready
     

  • Artists should be open to collaborative display planning and layout considerations

Large Scale Work
  • Artists are encouraged to include one or two larger or statement pieces
     

  • Maximum size allowances will be determined following artist selection
     

  • All large-scale work must be stable and suitable for shared gallery installation

Participation Format
  • The exhibition will take place over two days: Saturday and Sunday
     

  • During the application process, artists may indicate whether they prefer to:
     

    • Exhibit on Saturday
       

    • Exhibit on Sunday
       

    • Exhibit both days
       

  • Artists will be guaranteed participation for one day upon acceptance
     

  • Some artists may be invited to exhibit on both days, depending on space and scheduling considerations
     

  • Final participation schedules will be coordinated directly with selected artists

Artist Presence & Engagement
  • Artists are expected to be present for the full duration of their confirmed exhibition day
     

  • While present, artists are encouraged to:
     

    • Engage with guests
       

    • Discuss their work and process
       

    • Mingle and network with fellow artists, collectors, and community members
       

This presence is intended to support meaningful dialogue and foster a welcoming, connected exhibition environment.

Sales & Fees
  • There is no fee to participate
     

  • Artists retain 100% of their sales
     

  • Artists are responsible for pricing and handling their own payments and packaging
     

To enhance both artist and guest experience, a designated floor liaison will be present to:

  • Answer general guest questions
     

  • Help facilitate sales conversations
     

  • Assist with coordination during peak attendance periods

Selection Process

Artists will be selected through an open call facilitated by collaboARTive, along with outreach through local creative networks and institutions. Selection will be based on:

​

  • Quality and craftsmanship
     

  • Cohesion of work
     

  • Alignment with the exhibition focus
